Will Ratnam-Rahman click this time?

Just heard the song 'Tere Bina' from the upcoming Mani Ratnam film GURU. The music is simply haunting and what a terrific job by Rahman. Infact the film has an elegant musical score, which just exudes the classy genius of the music maestro. One can't help saying 'Maan Gaye GURU'. Well GURU once again brings forth the Mani Ratnam-A R Rahman collaboration. But the movie looks quite noteworthy if one skims over the little factors associated with this film.
First of all, A R Rahman has composed outstanding scores for his mentor Mani Ratnam's movies. But they haven't been able to 'score' in Bollywood so far. This combination has not clicked when it comes to Hindi movies. Their previous ventures DIL SE and YUVA turned out to be huge disappointments. So they surely might be pinning their hopes on GURU this time. Secondly, this movie again pairs up Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. They too haven't dished out a hit as a pair since their KUCH NAA KAHO days, which saw them as the lead pair for the first time. The recently released UMRAO JAAN too fizzled away. The forthcoming DHOOM 2 also stars both of them but not as a couple. So it's GURU that both will have to bank upon. …
And last but not the least, Mallika Sherawat is all set to sizzle the folks with an item number. She has already cemented her bold image in Bollywood, but this song could well be her first 'item number' for any movie. ….read more
