Uttar Pradesh lifts ban on ‘Aaja Nachle’

The UP Govt had banned Madhuri Dixit's much awaited comeback release 'Aaja Nachle'. The Dalit community had objections regarding some lines in the title song, which had some derogatory references to their caste. Following the ban in UP, the Punjab Govt also decided to ban the release on Saturday.
As per latest reports, the Uttar Pradesh government decided to lift the ban following an apology tendered by filmmaker Yash Chopra who has also decided to remove the objectionable portions of the title song's lyrics.
Anil Mehta, the director of the film said, "We didn't set out to make a film which would offend any sensibility. It's not out intention to hurt any section of the society. We made the film in good spirit and faith. And if for some reason it offended the sensibilities of some people, then the decision we have taken is we'll delete the line straightway". ….read more
