Tanushree Dutta for Rs 30,000 a night?

BollywoodBollywood is a whirlpool of controversies and it is the actresses who are more vulnerable to drowning in it. After Mallika Sherawat, Priyanka Chopra, Celina Jaitely and Preity Zinta, now it is Tanushree Dutta who’s in the eye of a storm. A website, www.bombaymodels.org, recently posted a picture of hers in a pink net top worn over a black bikini top and check miniskirt, saying that Dutta was available for Rs 30,000 a night! Obviously, the actress is enraged. “I was totally unaware of this till a friend of mine informed me about it. It’s absolutely disgusting. I’ve been shooting in Pune for a couple of months and when I came to know about this I immediately informed my family and lawyer about the matter,” she says adding, “I think the site has used a picture clicked by Subi Samuel during my Miss India days in 2004.” Tanushree is now planning to sue the website concerned, “Actors are nobody’s private property. I have already spoken to my legal advisor and the website owners would have to answer me in court now.” …

However, Tanushree is not the first Bollywood actress to have had to undergo such character assassination. Are industry girls soft targets for mischief-makers? “That’s right. Also, we do not get enough legal backing. Often, the lawyers themselves discourage us to drop the charges and persuade us to compromise,” she says asserting that she doesn’t want to spare the website owners at any cost. And the internet has made matters worse, feels the actress. “The internet is too vast. I can hire PR agencies to take care of what has been written about me in press, but one can’t keep tabs on the internet. Moreover, I think lack of strict cyber laws is a reason why people take undue advantage of this medium. There are no laws for downloading a picture,” says Tanushree. ….read more
