Koena: Bong with the best!

This dusky beauty from Kolkata took the modelling world by storm after winning the tag of a supermodel. Now Koena Mitra is creating waves in Bollywood.
"I'm proud to be known as the next Bengali sensation," she says. "Earlier, it was actors like like Jaya Bhaduri, Rakhee and Sharmila Tagore who filled the slots and now we have the likes of Rani Mukherji, Bipasha Basu, Sushmita Sen and Tanushree Dutta leaving audiences spellbound. I hope I can be the next link in this 'Bong kadi'," she laughs. Though a trained dancer who's given some splendid performances in songs like Saki saki re, Koena seems fed up of her item number image.
"I won't do any more item numbers. They don't excite the audience anymore. I am looking forward to doing some good movies where I have strong roles," she says. So what's her dream role? "Producers and directors in Bollywood don't make any action flicks with women protagonists, but I would love to do such a film," she replies. ….read more
