Eklavya nominated for Oscars

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ‘Eklavya - The Royal Guard’, has been selected as the official Indian entry for the Oscars. The multi-starrer with Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, made it to the foreign film category nominations of the Oscars, beating other big movies ‘Chak De’, ‘Guru’ and ‘Gandhi, My Father’.
Commenting on the news, Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra said, ”I’m elated. But this was only the first battle. The real one is still ahead. I’m leaving for the US on October 2 and will start my groundwork there. I’m banking on my previous experiences at the Academy and the overwhelming support the film has received in the West. I hope to make India proud.”
Vinod Chopra’s other films Parineeta and Lage Raho Munnabhai had also made it to the nominations last year. Good going Mr Chopra, hope we make it this time !
