Dhoka is the voice of a moderate Muslim

Pooja Bhatt's latest movie Dhoka deals with the burning issue of terrorism. The movie's story, written by Mahesh Bhatt , also has a Muslim angle to it. 'Dhoka' introduces newcomer Muzammil Ibrahim in the male lead. He plays Zaid Ahmed, a young, city-bred cop in Mumbai. Zaid is totally devoted to his service and is respected by his colleagues for his dedication.

But one tragic incident changes his life forever. A bomb blast rocks the city. While Zaid helps the victims of the blast, his life shatters when he finds the dead body of his beautiful Kashmiri wife Sarah ( Tulip Joshi . At first it seems Sarah, too, is a terror victim. But investigations reveal that she was in fact the suicide bomber. This revelation completely shocks Zaid. Zaid recalls the cherished memories of the years he spent with his wife. He is also hit by the realization that Sarah had a past which was full of pain, strife and injustice.

Without taking any sides, 'Dhoka' attempt to reveal the real face of terrorism. Although it is being speculated as a pro-Muslim film, Mahesh Bhatt asserts that it is basically pro-Indian and pro-humanity. Bhatt, who is himself a half Muslim, calls the film "the voice of a modern moderate Muslim". …

Pooja Bhatt says 'Dhoka' doesn't justify terrorism in any which way. It only presents a perspective about why do people blow themselves up. What drives them to this point? 'Dhoka' is third directorial attempt by Pooja Bhatt after Paap and Holiday .
